Job Description

The Opportunity

Be part of Singapore’s next-generation mobility transformation. As a Safety Operator for Autonomous Bus, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable operation of autonomous vehicles on public roads. The Role

1. Ensure Safe Autonomous Operations

  • Monitor real-time driving performance, traffic conditions, and system alerts
  • Stay prepared to take immediate manual control when required to ensure safety
  • Identify hazards and respond promptly to ensure passenger and public safety
  • Apply defensive driving techniques and follow emergency response protocols
  • Comply with traffic laws, operating procedures, and assigned routes

 

2. Support Daily Operations

  • Perform pre- and post-service vehicle inspections
  • Check readiness of onboard systems (safety equipment, cameras, communication tools, cleanliness)
  • Coordinate schedules via fleet management systems and ensure service readiness
  • Log faults, defects, and operational issues accurately and promptly
  • Support system data collection and upload

 

3. Engage Passengers & Public

  • Provide a safe and positive passenger experience during trials and operations
  • Assist with boarding/alighting and encourage safe passenger behaviour
  • Address public queries on autonomous driving and trial operations

 

4. Reporting & Coordination

  • Report incidents, near misses, and system disengagements promptly
  • Maintain accurate shift logs and incident records
  • Work closely with control centre, engineers, and operations teams
  • Escalate any technical or safety concerns immediately
Job Requirements

The Requirement

  • Possess a valid Class 4 driving licence; Bus Driver’s Vocational Licence (BDVL) is preferred or required to be obtained prior to live passenger operations
  • At least 2–3 years of safe driving experience in buses, heavy vehicles or commercial passenger transport will be an advantage
  • Comfortable with shift work and flexible hours, including off-peak operations in line with operational and regulatory requirements
  • Comfortable using digital tools and onboard systems (e.g. tablets, telematics, logging systems, radios)
  • Proactive in learning and adapting to new safety procedures and technologies
  • Good communication skills and confidence engaging with passengers/public
